Copy-editing of single-language texts is billed at a starting rate of € 7.50 plus turnover tax per standard page (1,500 characters including spaces per page). The prices may vary depending on the difficulty of the text, the extent of corrections and changes required, and the file format. Whether or not the author of the text is a native speaker might also impact the costs. Hourly rates or flat fees may be agreed in the individual case.

I translate German texts into English and English texts into German with a focus on legal texts and marketing material. The goal here is to arrive at a translation that clearly, precisely, and appropriately reflects the original text. This is especially challenging (and also the most interesting) when it comes to cultural or legal concepts that are unique to the language area. As Adam Gopnik said in The New Yorker: "A truly untranslatable word, it seems, may be the sign of an unsustainable concept."

As translator, I have been authorized by the President of the Higher Regional Court of Cologne to certify the correctness and completeness of a translation, which certification makes it possible to submit the translation in court and to the authorities, and to use it for notarial purposes. This service is billed at € 5.00 plus turnover tax per certified copy.

The prices may vary depending on the difficulty and level of specialization of the text as well as the file format. Hourly rates or flat fees may be agreed in the individual case.
